- develop innovative, award-winning programs
- recruit students from minority and other underrepresented groups to complete degrees in education and become certified teachers
- establish endowed chair and professorship positions, which are the hallmark of major universities and provide stability to a college
- provide students more than 130 scholarships annually, averaging $2,300 each
- Increase the research opportunities for the faculty to enhance knowledge in areas such as reading, science education and child development
