Admission Procedure

Application

The admissions procedure begins with submission of the Application for Graduate Studies (online Graduate Application). The application may also be mailed to WSU. Once received, the admission department begins a file and waits for further documentation.

Autobiographical Statement The program requires completion of a personal statement. Applicants should speak about their background and interest in a degree in Instructional Technology. This statement is submitted to the University with the graduate application.
Vita

The vita should describe previous education, work experience, publications, and professional service.

Transcripts

Transcripts from all colleges, universities and schools attended must be sent to Wayne before any action is taken on the admission application.

Academic Recommendations

Four academic letters of recommendation from previous professors are required. The College of Education has a form letter for these letters (add link to word file). Narrative letters are also accepted.

Departmental Interview

Interviews are scheduled during the semester prior to the semester the student wishes to begin.

Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

Scores from a previous GRE should be sent to WSU Graduate School. The GRE can be taken through WSU's Testing & Evaluation Services (313-577-3400). For more information on the Graduate Record Exam, visit the official GRE site.

Follow-Up

While the admission process usually works well, problems do occur. The process typically takes 6-8 weeks. Applicants are encouraged to follow their application by contacting the office of Graduate Admissions (313-577-3577), Academic Services (313-577-1909) and the IT department (313-577-1728).

Permit to Register: If there is a delay in processing your application please call the IT department (313-577-1728). A Permit to Register may be given to qualified students. A Permit to Register allows a student to take classes without being formally admitted to the program.
