Admission to Education Specialist Certificate Program

Admission Requirements

Admission to the Education Specialist program is based on:

  • 2.8 undergraduate GPA or 3.4 graduate GPA
  • Vita
  • Three academic recommendations. These letters should come from previous professors who can speak to your ability as a student. Letters of recommendations from co-workers and supervisors are not desired.

Admissions Procedure

Application

The admissions procedure begins with submission of the Application for Graduate Studies (online Graduate Application). The application may also be mailed to WSU. Once received, the admission department begins a file and waits for further documentation.

Personal Statement

The program requires completion of a personal statement. Applicants should speak about their background and interest in a degree in Instructional Technology. This statement is submitted to the University with the graduate application.

Transcripts

Transcripts from all colleges, universities and schools attended must be sent to Wayne before any action is taken on the admission application.

Letters of Recommendation

Three academic letters of recommendation from previous professors are required. The College of Education has a form letter for these letters which is sent out upon receipt of your application. Narrative letters are also accepted.

Follow-Up

While the admission process usually works well, problems do occur. The process typically takes 6-8 weeks. Applicants are encouraged to follow their application by contacting the office of Graduate Admissions (313-577-3577), Academic Services (313-577-1909) and the IT department (313-577-1728).

Permit to Register: If there is a delay in processing your application please call the IT department (313-577-1728). A Permit to Register may be given to qualified students. A Permit to Register allows a student to take classes without being formally admitted to the program.
