Individuals aspiring to such positions as assistant principals, principals, curriculum directors or coordinators, federal coordinators, directors (special education, industrial-vocational education, counseling and guidence, etc.), assistant superintendents, and superintendents should undertake study at the sixth year and doctoral level. The M.Ed. is basic, entry-level step.
Students who have not been formally admitted to the Wayne State University Graduate School should file initial applications with the Graduate Admissions Office, located within the Welcome Center (corner of Warren & Woodward), Suite 436. Students applying for a Master's degree must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.60 or higher. Official transcripts of all college level work, both undergraduate and graduate are to be mailed directly to the Graduate Addmissions Office by the institution where the work was completed.
Advisor and Plan of Work
Upon notification of the assignment of an advisor, the applicant should call for an appointment to complete a plan of work. The plan of work is the student's "contract" with the Universtiy specifying both the number and title of courses to be taken in the program.
