This program is designed for practicing teachers who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills for teaching in Career and Technical Education programs. Admission to the Master of Education program is contingent upon admission to the University's graduate school. To be considered for the Master of Education program in Career and Technical Education applicants must present evidence of:
Plans of Work
After you have been admitted to the Master of Education program and have completed at least one course you should meet with a Career and Technical Education advisor to compare your Plan of Work. Your Plan of Work must be submitted to the Graduate Education Office for approval prior to completion of 12 semester hours of graduate coursework.
Time Limitations for the MED program
You must complete the requirements for the Master of Education within six (6) years following the date of the first recorded graduate course to be used for your degree.
Master's Degree Seminars
These courses (TED 7000 and ED 7999) are taught sequentially. They are typically offered in the Fall and Winter terms. When registering, be sure to select the section designated for Career and Technical Education students.
Transfer Credits
A maximum of six graduate semester credits from another accredited university may be transferred and applied to your program provided the courses are approved by your advisor.
Advanced planning will help ensure the completion of your program in a timely fashion. Information about planned course offerings can be obtained form the Career and Technical Education Department. MED courses may be taken any time after admission to the College of Education. Cognate Courses will be identified from Career and Technical Education classes in consultation with an advisor. General Professional Requirements consists of credit selected from educational foundation courses. The MED candidate must complete one two-credit course from each of three areas chosen from the list below. Courses within a candidate's major area cannot be used to satisfy this requirement.
