MEMBERSHIP

in the Whole Schooling Consortium

We invite individuals and organizations to join us in this work to build caring, inclusive, and democratic schools. Members may be either (1) individuals or (2) organizations, most often schools. In either case, the requirements for membership are simple. We charge no membership fees.

1. COMMITMENT: A commitment to the Six Principles of Whole Schooling as a basis for informing and guiding our educational practices in schools, as goals.

2. ACTION: A willingness to engage in action, to DO something within your own school or community based on the Six Principles of Whole Schooling.

3. COMMUNITY & MEMBERSHIP: Willingness to join with others in our local area AND across local areas to support one another and contribute to building Whole Schooling and related efforts as a positive pro-active movement as part of the Whole Schooling Consortium.

MEMBERS may include individuals and organizations.

INDIVIDUALS may agree to these three requirements for membership and become part of the Consortium. There are national projects in which you may participate. You may work to develop a Local Whole Schooling Consortium.

SCHOOLS. We are interested in schools who see the Six Principles of Whole Schooling as exemplifying the type of school community you would like to become. School members may form a Partnership as part of the Consortium at many different levels -- ranging from one or more staff engaging in a specific project to the entire school commiting to using the principles of Whole Schooling to guide school improvement and renewal efforts.

SCHOOL SUPPORT ORGANIZATIONS. Many research centers, universities, technical assistance and training programs, and more provide support to local schools. You may want to join the efforts of the Consortium through a collaborative partnerhship.

GOVERNMENT. Local, state, and national government organizations that guide and provide oversight of schools are invited to join as well.

HOW TO APPLY.
