This meeting will combine the features of a lecture series, roundtable discussion and working conference. The Banquet Dinner Dance will be located at the Marriott Hotel in the Renaissance Center on Friday, June 19, 2009. The Round Table will be located at Wayne State University on Saturday, June 20, 2009. There will be:
*Banquet speaker (Dr. Na’im Akbar) and Dinner Dance DJ
★An opening keynote speaker: Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings, Professor, University of Wisconsin
★Distinguished Moderator-led questioning of the speaker
★Meetings of online communities
★A panel of nationally distinguished African American education scholars, policymakers and practitioners to address the intersection of practice, research, and policy as they relate to African American children.
★After a brief introduction, each of the panelists responds to questions posed by the moderator -- a distinguished educator.
★Visionary dialogue regarding research, policy and practice between audience and panel.
★ISAAC Committee Meetings (1 ½ hours). The conferees will be divided into small groups for brainstorming, planning, working on the Mission of ISAAC.
Papers presented will be posted on the ISAAC website.
